Who We Are
The Way began in 2023. We invited about 60 kids from a local after school program, in a small Vila in Porto Alegre, Brazil, to attend a Zoom bible study. Our first meeting was 5 young people and today about 14 kids participate regularly, studying God’s word together, memorizing Scripture, doing life together and learning to be followers of Jesus.
Every Saturday, for the past 3 years, we meet on Zoom, led by founders Nathan and Fabiana Krey, from Steamboat Springs, Colorado (USA). The bible study is translated from English to Portugues in real time by Fabi and her brother, Ronaldo. Several local volunteers help set up meetings, transport kids, lead games and make lunch. The Way currently borrows space wherever we can, often moving from place to place. We are hoping to find a more permanent and larger meeting space, as the group continues to grow. Fabi grew up in this poor Vila in southern Brazil and knows firsthand the challenges these kids face. We are honored to help the youth of Porto Alegre learn God’s word, develop and succeed in life.
After year one, we added English class, following the bible study. The kids love Ms. Lucy, a local teacher, who is helping them learn an important new skill. We are building a small library and encourage the kids to read books like C.S. Lewis’s, Chronicles of Narnia or Jack London’s, Call of the Wild. Some of our youth attend weekly chess club. Jonas, our chess star, recently took second place in a local tournament. We love helping kids try new things, find hobbies and learn new skills. Most families in the Vila would not be able to afford these opportunities without our help.
What We Do
Our Mission is to glorify Jesus Christ through youth discipleship and development programs in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Vision for the future
The vision for The Way Global includes a permanent meeting space in the Vila that would hold up to 50 kids, with an area for games and crafts. With your help we want to increase the size and scope of our outreach, offering more activities like chess club, book club, soccer games, movie nights, volleyball, music, food and fun to help invite kids to The Way bible study.
Our 3 year goal is to build a youth retreat outside of the Vila and bus kids to an amazing property, dedicated the study of God’s word and youth development. The retreat will have a chapel, classrooms, a dining hall, a sports field, boys and girls cabins and more.This project will bring positive generational change to hundreds, maybe thousands of young people in Porto Alegre. This will be a beautiful, safe space for youth to enjoy God’s creation and enjoy being young.
We believe that God loves us enough to send His only Begotten Son, to pour out His blood at the cross, in our place, for the forgiveness of sin. On the third day, He rose from the dead, proving that Jesus is God, with power over death and hell. Scripture tells us we are saved by grace though faith, not by works. We must repent from sin and believe in Jesus. We must be born again…born of Spirit…this is eternal life. At The Way, we are learning to love and serve God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to share our faith with others.
The Way is a project God is using today to bless young people in Porto Alegre. These kids are not the future church, they are the church right now, a light in their schools, their Vila, to their neighbors. They are learning about God’s love, memorizing Scripture, believing in Jesus, getting baptized and inviting their friends to bible study. We are seeing God work in mighty ways and it is amazing!
The Way is growing. We need help to purchase new bibles, journals, more screens and sound equipment for a dynamic Zoom meeting, chess club dues, English resources, a bus to transport kids to the bible study, a bigger meeting space. Pray about your part in this. We would love to answer any questions you have. Some plant seeds, others water, but God gives the increase. We can all work together to share the good news of Jesus to the ends of the earth.
